First turns on the Hintertux Glacier and they were good

Our winter season is under way with some really great piste skiing on the Hintertux Glacier yesterday. With no new snow for around 2 weeks the conditions on the Hintertux Glacier were surprisingly good with really impressive piste skiing. The runs directly beneath the Olperer peak offered the best snow conditions as at this time of the year the mighty pyramid of rock casts a huge shadow over this part of the glacier and as such the snow conditions have remained very good in this area. Whilst we were there the new weather system from the south was rolling in that hit colder northern air masses and produced some serious snow deposits. Snow is forecast over the coming days and into the middle of next week – conditions later next week should be superb on the Hintertux Glacier when the skies finally clear of the snow clouds.
