This first big storm of the autumn glacier skiing season rolled over the region the last few days and has really left its mark with more than half a metre of fresh powder across the Hintertux Glacier and snow right down to the base-station in Hintertux. September snow is not uncommon given the height of the Hintertux Glacier but it is still welcome and getting it all the way down as low as Innsbruck (570m) certainly indicated it was a mighty cold spell as well. During the storm you could just make out the piste groomers on the glacier rolling the new snow flat – conditions up there from tomorrow onwards should be superb with clear and milder weather forecast for the coming days. The new snow was great timing as well for the Hintertux Glacier Betterpark opening in 10 days or so which should now be assured of great riding conditions.
